Hockey

Aces versus Victoria Salmon Kings. Minor league hockey at its best tonight at the Sullivan Arena. The Aces won in a shoot-out 3-2. Great game.

Aces 4 Victoria 3

Attended the Alaska Aces – Victoria Salmon Kings game last night at the Sullivan Arena with Anna, Kristin, Carolyn, Anne, Paul and Karen. Drank one of the over-priced ($9.50!) draft beers and about half of a smaller beer. All but Carolyn and Anne met first at the Crossroads, a bar just north of the Arena. Now, the Crossroads is a neighborhood bar with certain amenities that make it a good place to drink. These amenities – like free hot dogs every day of the week and free pulled pork BBQ sandwiches on hockey game nights – provide the good base that a night of drinking requires.

So, the Aces continued their hot streak with their 13th win in 14 games. This made me happy given that last time we went to the game in February when they lost to the Idaho Steelheads (who are leading the ECHL National Conference, West Division) 2-1.

Total War

Okay, I’ve become addicted to Rome: Total War. After more than a year of refusing to download ‘better’ Nvidia drivers (because Nvidia can’t make drivers that work properly to save their life) I couldn’t stand the crashing of Total War and got the recent drivers for Nvidia. Ugh. It made me feel dirty. Anyways, Rome is awesome and the only reason I’m not playing right now is because (a) it’s late (b) I have to work at 7am (c) the better half would be mad at me for ignoring her.

Rome: Total War battle

Rome: Total War game

I don’t think this little addiction comes as any surprise to me since I was addicted to Medieval: Total War about 4 years ago when that had just come out. Must…. play… Rome…

DAMN.
