“The Dillingham Trip” as I’ve now labeled the less than 24 hours I spent in the Bristol Bay city was a complete bust. Sure I met some people in person that I’d only talked to over the phone but there was no trial. That really gets me. I was all prepared and ready to go but it didn’t happen. I don’t want to go into it why no trial happened on this posting but I’m upset. I did take some photos – none of which I’ve downloaded to my computer yet – and got to ride in both a Saab 340 and a Fairchild Metroliner III. Yeah, it was that kind of trip where the highlights were the method of transportation.

Finally I’ll be able to go to one additional rural Alaskan town that I’ve never been too. On Sunday I’m travelling to Dillingham for work purposes. If all goes according to plan (which it never does) I should return to Anchorage Tuesday night.
With their new album Radiohead continues with the post-OK Computer sound they initiated on Kid A. Thankfully, the album’s sound is not as ridiculously disjointed as the sound they ‘captured’ on Hail to the Thief. Thom’s falsetto is back on several tracks (I especially like Reckoner) and is used a way that has been missing since OK Computer with the underlaid soft bass. I’ve listened through the album three times now and like the synthetic drone of House of Cards – quite good – and I appreciate the anti-establishment theme of the song. The drumwork on the album is refreshingly low-key (lots of brushes) and it work very well with the vocals.
First off, I fully support hunting of all animals in a sustainable manner.

In my opinion, this is not, by any stretch of the word, hunting. This is the wanton wasteful killing of a habituated animal and must be condemned. Travel to another region where the bears are not accustomed to mankind and hunt bears.
These degenerates should be named in public and beaten.
